My projects have spanned CEO advisory, interim executive assignments, messaging and product positioning, product management, and product marketing. I have also done a bit of life coaching.
Background
I’m a retired technology executive of both early stage and publicly traded companies. I have been advising, co-founding, and investing in early stage companies, as well as volunteering for local organizations.
Growth to IPO
Prior to consulting, I was an early employee and executive of two companies that ultimately did IPOs – both Latitude Communications (now part of Cisco) in 1999 and Barracuda Networks in 2013. I have also held executive and product management positions in several companies that exited successfully through acquisition.
Diverse 0→1 Startups
My clients span across markets. Clients have included All Star Directories – the 3rd fastest growing private company in Washington (Puget Sound Business Journal, 2005), AlienVault – through their integration as AT&T Cybersecurity, and Arctic Wolf – ranked #25 on Deloitte’s 2019 Technology Fast 500™.
Tech DNA
Prior to working with startups, I started my professional career at Oracle where I ran product management for its line of decision support products across Windows, Mac, UNIX, VMS, and IBM mainframes. I graduated from MIT with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
Technology Portfolio
I remain invested in early stage tech companies, including Trove , Sparrow Phamaceuticals, Otonexus, Turn, and Light Line Medical. I also participate in technology investments through SPVs and as a limited partner in venture funds. I was a screening committee member to select investments for Keiretsu Capital Fund IV.
Thought Leadership
I am always honored when people ask me to contribute to their own creative works. I was grateful to be featured on One Minute for Mental Health, People First Leaders, Amplified Team Training, #PopHealth, and The Black Line. Personal
My wife and I are Pacific Northwest natives, having first met in 7th grade German class. We are currently empty nesters, with two adult daughters in graduate school. After decades of suburban living, we now enjoy living in Portland’s Pearl District. (paos.us)
